Audience TEN recognizes the important for both preservice and inservice educators to have resources to display observations and models of best educational technology integration practices. Preservice and inservice educators, teacher educators and professional development designers will have access to these authentic teaching scenarios. Consider what other educators will want and need to know to best utilize your ideas in their classroom as you design your video.
Length The final video should be 2-5 minutes long. Please make any effort to keep your video shorter than 5 minutes to be considered.
Video Quality The video is high quality. Teachers need to be able to see and hear what is going on in the video. The video has been edited to help guide the viewer's attention (e.g., use of titles, cutting out extraneous clips). List any applications or online resources teachers can access at the end of your video. Voice overs should be included to narrate the video where applicable.
Video Accessibility The video is accessible for visual/hearing impaired individuals. (e.g., use of transcription/Closed Captioning, description of video). There are online support sites to help with your audio capture: How to do YouTube captioning.
Exemplary Technology Integration: Technology uses should try to target technology uses that could be classified in SAMR as "Modify/Redefine." TEN is looking for examples of technology use to Modify and Redefine lesson plans. Definitions according to the SAMR model, Redefinition: Technology allows for the creation of new tasks, previously inconceivable. Modification.Technology allows for significant task redesign. For additional information, see this Link to description of the SAMR model.
Inspiration Factor TEN wants videos that are engaging and inspiring. Your video should motivate the viewer to learn more about the technology used.
ISTE Standards Connections to ISTE standards are critical. The technology integration example in the video describes and shows evidence of the teacher’s ability to achieve at least two of ISTE standards (for educators and/or students). Link to the ISTE Standards.
Final Thoughts Many of you still might have questions or are looking for sample of project ideas. Here is an example video to consider as a guide or starting point. TEN is interested in what you are doing!
